Moncler V Hiking Boots by Hiroki Nakamura
Moncler Italia has utilized the design skills of Hiroki Nakamura for their latest collection of Visvim Boots and Gear. These V Hiking boots look both classic and hi-tech, a common theme you will find appreciated here on the Cool-list.
Visvim is a Japanese fashion brand that was founded by Hiroki Nakamura, a Kofu, Japan born designer who grew in Tokyo. Having spent a great deal of his life traveling, Nakamura still calls his home Tokyo. His design education was not formal in many ways, but after spending eight years working with Burton Snowboards, Nakamura had a good idea of the kind of company he wanted to start in terms of ethics and production quality. The goal of the line is to provide high quality shoes and products that conform to both design and environmental standards set by Nakamura. The director Hiroki Nakamura established Cubism and launched VISVIM in 2000.
Moncler has quite a history, the name Moncler is actually the abbreviation for Monastier de Clermont, a mountain village near Grenoble. In 952, Rene Ramillon, an entrepreneur and manufacturer of mountain articles and author of dozens of patents, set up the company that gave life to the first down jacket. Moncler manager Andre Vincent, a friend of Ramillon and dealer of sports goods in Grenoble also produced a padded sleeping bag, a camping tent with telescopic structure and external covering. Lionel Terray, a key figure in the history of Moncler. Terray commision Ramillon of Moncler to produce a snowsuit, gloves and sleeping bag to provide high resistance and protection for his extreme climbs. The dedicated “Moncler pour Lionel Terray” is designed and produced. Each garment, including the down jackets is prepared and perfected with the technical expertise of Terray and utilized on the field during his expeditions. In 1954, the Moncler down jacket is chosen to equip the Italian Karakorum expedition which conquered the Makalu (8470) meters. This is a serious history, not one to be scoffed at. Although here in the states we think on Moncler as the brightly colored, puffy and shiny jackets better served on the streets of Manhattan or Beverly Hills, that should not be the intention nor purpose.
This brings us to the boots. The V Hiking boots. Rugged, heavy Vibram soles. Brightly colored edges and laces. The bright laces on mountaineering boots served a purpose to locate lost hikers during an avalanche. These V Hiking boots are just plain cool and functional and hopefully you will never have to experience their other purpose. MONCLER
