Yamaha Design “Synapses”
From Yamaha’s Design group come these beautiful instruments. Headed by Yasuhiro Kira, Yamaha Product design Laboratory Executive Officer and General Manager these are functional, works of art. There is the SV-120 1997 Strings, a “Silent” Violin who’s elements are paired down to only the most functional elements, yet a beautiful desirable instrument. There is the TENORI-ON, which is a tactile, electronic music board that takes the numerical expression 16×16=256, a common equation in the digital realm applied to the problem of how much music can one create using just 256 LED switches. There is the HEXRACK drum system, a well made, reliable simple in concept system. The HEXRACK maximises drum-shell resonance without permitting excess vibration, yet giving stability for a very comfortable playing experience. There is the WX7 WIND, a digital wind instrument where no vibration is needed. All normal functions and ornamentation are removed down to a simple and minimal configuration. The mouthpiece “Box” detects the strength of the players breath, a “Bar” for the instruments body supports the keys. The CLP-S308PE is a slim, stylish digital piano that is not an attempt to replace the acoustic piano but to simply explore the essential nature of the electronic piano. YAMAHA
