DROMO 1
This is the coolest kart facility I have seen in the US. DROMO 1 is located in Orange County, California, near Disneyland and it offers the thrill of real racing on their 1000ft. long track. DROMO offers gas powered karts made by STRATOS which feature a custom built 9hp engine which can propel you up to 40 mph (at ground level mind you). The indoor course offers a real racing experience. The only qualification is to be five feet tall and ready to race. They even have a special program for the younger ones. The race procedure follows a 10 minute briefing and then you are fit with a Arai helmet and full race suit. The first six laps of your on-track session is a timed qualifying session. Then you race against the clock. After qualifying the racers are gridded for a Formula 1 style standing start, with the pole position start order based on the best lap times from the qualifying session. This leads to an additional 3 to 4 mile race. You can also reserve track time and hold private group racing events. What a cool way to celebrate a bachelor party, an anniversary, or a corporate event. They also guest lounge and other games while you wait. DROMO 1 is located at 1431 North Main Street, Orange, Ca 92867 and is open Monday through Thursday from 1 PM to 10 PM and Friday through Saturday from 11 AM to 11 PM, and from 11 AM to 9 PM on Sundays.
