Cerveceria el Vaso de Oro – Barcelona

The Golden Cup indeed, this Tapas bar, located half a block away from the Marina Village in Barcelona was touted as “The Best Tapas” in Barcelona by my local guide. We slipped into this narrow bar and I began to order but was told that the bartender will not take your order, you are either going to have a drink or you are going to have tapas and a drink. He will only ask how many persons you are, and then he will serve you until you say stop. I obliged and order the house Beer, made from a mixture of two blends that they had on tap. Excellent and ice cold, I find later that they are probably known more for their beer as for the tapas which was excellent. Not the typical cheese, and meat tapas I usually find, there was first Pan Tomat’, which was a bread that was stained red from tomato juice, fresh anchovies, some fried baby fish that were sweeter than sardines and a tortilla (basically a quiche) made with fresh vegetables and potato. I will never forget the meal I had that day. Next time I visit Barcelona, this is one of the first places on my list to revisit. El Vaso De Oro, Balboa 6, Barcelona Espana.
