IL Borro – Tuscany

Il Borro, is smack in the heart of Tuscany’s Chianti valley. Owned by the Ferragamo family, Il Borro is a Medevial village, complete with it’s own church, shops and an Osteria. There you can explore the Italian countryside, learn wine making, hunt for Chingale (Wild Boar) or Pheasant. You can also ride horses, take cooking classes at the Osteria, tour their own Vineyards and wine making facility, even hang glide or try hot air ballooning. The accommodations are a range of Villa’s spread over the estates farm land complete with pools or the ancient stone village homes in a fairy tale setting. Each unit has at minimum two bedrooms, fireplaces, hand painted tiled bathrooms, fully decked out kitchens even a wood burning pizza oven. From Il Borro, you have a perfect jump off to explore the rest of Tuscany, only thirty minutes from Florence or Siena. It’s is a pleasure to return to after a long day of shopping for Prada, Bottega Veneta and Loro Piano at the local outlets. The Osteria Del’Borro is fantastic. The head chef/sommelier Franco was always keen to surprise us with dishes off the menu, simply asking us “What are you in the mood for?” Il Borro, place it on your list.
